Unplugged Courtyards weekend drunken brunch is here! | kolkata foodies community

Get unlimited food and cocktails starting at just Rs. 999! Starting from sushi’s to dimsums, they have it all!

Hand sanitised, temperature checked, my host and I stepped into the elevator, which was, thankfully, rather spacious. Small things you never noticed before life hit the new normal. We got down at the fourth floor and climbed a flight of stairs to the Unplugged Courtyard (UC), perched on the terrace of the Hotel Golden Park on Ho Chi Minh Sarani (not far from the Kolkata offices of the British Deputy High Commission and the US Consulate).

The Delhi-headquartered resto-bar, which opened its doors recently in Kolkata, is divided into several zones, across 7500 square feet, offering indoor and outdoor seating arrangements, with their own set of bars. The Kolkata franchise is owned by Amit Kumar Modi and Priti Modi. We chose Terrazza, the open-air section, again a preferred seating area in these difficult times. As we settled down in our corner, I wondered what the two edifices on either side of the terrace would say to each other if they suddenly found their voice. On one side, rising above the hazy cityscape was the grand dome of the Victoria Memorial, its angel with the trumpet etched against the late afternoon sky. On the other side, looming high above us was The 42, a much vaunted luxury address, whose top stories almost disappeared into the clouds.

The seating area – cosy chairs to benches – was spaced out, bracketed by red brick walls and overflowing faux creepers; one end was occupied by the long bar. There was an elevated area (the DJ console) topped by a giant television screen. True to its moniker, UC hosts both live bands and DJ music. All of the information taken from Outlook India

Best Korean food in kolkata | Craving for some Korean dish mamasan got you cover

Ordered this delicious Korean Bibimbap Bowl (Chicken, Dak Gomtang ( Korean Red Chilli Soup), Korean Kimchi Salad from mamasan

Usually, I don’t prefer many much Korean dishes… I prefer korena dish which is Bulgogi is probably the most popular Korean dish, with thinly sliced meat that has a smoky-sweet flavour or stir-fried pork slice

But I was quite curious to try Bibimbap and gomtang soup and when I think about the authentic Korean dish mamasan always comes first…

Bibimbap

If you’ve never heard of Bibimbap, it’s a Korean dish that combines rice, seasoned vegetables, meat, egg, and a variety of other toppings. The awesome concoction is cooked in a stone bowl so the bottom gets deliciously crispy, adding even more colour and texture to the meal. It’s truly the best bowl meal around. This dish is totally flexible and you can add or remove ingredients as you see fit…but 😂 I ended up adding some kimchi, which is not usually served on bibimbap, but it was still delicious.

Bibimbap
(Chicken, Dak Gomtang ( Korean Red Chilli Soup)

Dak gomtang is a variation made with chicken, but the chicken does not take as much time to cook. It’s simple to make and typically served with cooked rice in the soup with shredded chicken meat on top and noodles along with lots of chopped scallion(spring onions).
